St. Bernadette had a total of 18 visions of the Virgin Mary in the grottoes at Lourdes. Since then, the site has been considered a holy place where followers go to swim in the waters. Lourdes is still an extremely popular pilgrimage destination. Travelers from all over the world make the journey every year seeking health and healing.
